October’s Positive Youth Sports Award Goes to….

November 4, 2015 by Janis

October’s Positive Youth Sports Award goes to Sherry Connor, from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Sherry has been coaching for six years and presently coaches high school and club volleyball.
Sherry is described as:

An amazing coach, and an amazing person. She cares about each of her players as individuals, not just what they can do on the court. She puts the emphasis on the kids playing to have fun, not the parents.
Sherry attends every training that she can in order to become a better coach. Even though she played D-1 volleyball in college, she knows that she needs to keep learning in order to be the best coach that she can.

Sherry 7Sherry also offers private lessons and makes sure that everyone who wants a lesson can afford one. She has even covered the cost of club season for athletes who wouldn’t otherwise have been able to play.
On top of her work directly with the kids, Sherry puts many hours in every year keeping the city-owned beach volleyball courts in shape.

“My daughter has had a total of 11 volleyball coaches including recreational, club, and school. Sherry Connor is by far the best coach she has ever had and deserves to be recognized with the Positive Youth Sports Award.” Michelle Alanis

Congratulations, Sherry! You are very deserving of the Positive Youth Sports Award!
