Top 10 Nutritional Snacks for Athletes

February 13, 2017 by Janis

nutritional snacks for athletesEvery athlete likes to snack…do you know what the best nutritional snacks for athletes are?

If you really want to help your athlete play his or her best, you have to help them choose the right fuel they put into their bodies.

I’m no food expert, so I asked for help on the best nutritional snacks for athletes and people concerned about their fitness.

My friend and soon-to-be family relation (he’s marrying my son-in-law’s sister) Mike Guevara is a Wellness & Performance Coach and Pro-Athlete Performance Consultant. He works with athletes like Drew Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans and Tennis Pro Victoria Azarenka and a ton of other college and youth athletes.

I asked him for his top 10 list of nutritional snacks that he uses himself and recommends to the athletes he trains. This is his list, in no particular order, with my affiliate links for easy shopping.

1. Raw organic nuts (walnuts, cashews, almonds) Organic Raw Nut Mixes, 16 oz bag
2. Dark chocolate (72% or higher) Ghirardelli Chocolate Intense Dark Bar, Twilight Delight (Pack of 6)
3. Mighty organic Beef bar Beef Mighty Bar – Bacon and Apple – Case of 12
4. Health warrior chia bar Health Warrior Chia Bars Variety, 15-Count
5. Primal kitchen Collagen protein bar Coconut Cashew, Dark Chocolate and Chocolate Hazelnut Protein Bars
6. David’s Matcha Green tea Matcha Green Tea Powder – use in smoothies, drinks, etc. 48 servings
7. Naked Whey Protein shake Chocolate Grass Fed Whey Protein Powder-Chocolate
8. Kale chips Kale Chips 100% Organic
9. Wild friends Almond butter Wild Friends Foods Almond Butter, 16 oz Jar
10. Kimera Koffee Kimera Koffee – Ground Coffee /Kimera Koffee K-Cups
Obviously, some of these may not appeal to your athlete, but start by replacing a couple of less healthy options with a couple of these healthy options. Baby steps in the right direction are better than no steps at all!
